Beclomethasone Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray (200 Sprays): contains the active ingredient beclometasone which helps to reduce inflammation in the nasal passages.
People who suffer from nasal allergies (allergic rhinitis) such as hayfever tend to experience a variety of symptoms as a result of their allergy. These can include the following; runny, itchy or blocked nose, sneezing and sinus discomfort. These symptoms are a result of inflammation in the nasal passages.
This nasal inflammation occurs when the nasal passages are exposed to foreign particles (allergens), for example, pollen, dust mites or pet fur. The allergens cause the cells in the nose to release chemicals that produce immune and allergic responses. These result in inflammation in the nasal passages and the symptoms of the allergy.
How does Beclomethasone Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray work?
When used, the active ingredient is absorbed into the cells of the nasal passages. Here it works by preventing the cells from releasing the chemicals that trigger the allergic response. This stops the allergic reaction from happening so the nasal inflammation is reduced and the symptoms relieved.
What is it used for?
- Hayfever (seasonal allergic rhinitis).
- Inflammation of the nasal lining that occurs thoughout the year due to allergies, eg to pets or dust mites (perennial allergic rhinitis).
- Inflammation of the nasal lining not due to infection or allergy (vasomotor rhinitis).
Beclomethasone Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray contains the same active ingredient as Beconase nasal spray.
Tell your doctor before starting to take Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray:
- if you are pregnant (or intending to become pregnant)
- if you are breast-feeding a baby
- if you have recently been treated with injected steroids or if you have been taking oral steroids for a long time
- if you have ever had to stop taking this or another medicine for this illness because you were allergic to it or it caused problems.
Sometimes this medicine may not be suitable and your doctor may want to give you something different. Make sure that your doctor knows what other medicines you are taking, including those you have bought from the chemist. Remember to take this medicine with you if you have to go into hospital.

Beclomethasone Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray contains:
50 micrograms beclomethasone dipropionate per spray.
Beclomethasone Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray does not cause drowsiness and does not affect your ability to drive or use machinery. You can still drink alcohol while you are using Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray.
Like all medicines, Beclomethasone Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray can have side effects. If you experience any of the following while you are using Beclomethasone Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray, tell your doctor as soon as possible.
Common side effects that have been reported in between 1 in 10 and 1 in 100 people using Beclomethasone Hayfever Relief Nasal Spray include:
- a dry or painful nose or throat,
- an unpleasant taste or smell,
- bad nose bleeds,
- allergic reactions including skin rashes or redness,
- itching or wheals like nettle rash or hives.
